Recommended Learning Opportunities

There are so many incredible opportunities to engage in learning locally and online with esteemed Jewish scholars and educators from around the world. Below are several wonderful ways to deepen your Jewish knowledge.

The Jewish Studies Program at San Jose State University

The Jewish Studies Program, a minor program within the History Department, welcomes SJSU students and community members into a study of Jewish ethnicity, history, literature, ethics, religion, and culture. The program features classes, both on campus and in the community, including Yiddish!

We work together with the SJSU Jewish Faculty & Staff Association, Hillel of Silicon Valley, and the Jewish Student Association to offer book discussions, public lectures, film screenings, and other cultural programming throughout the year.

Ulpan classes are starting on January 10th.
“The Conservative Yeshiva's Ulpan is an opportunity to study Hebrew with top-notch Ulpan teachers in a small, congenial class with students of all ages from around the world.“
Details and registration can be found on their CY Winter Bayit webpage.

Project Oded is a “Beit Midrash” for those seeking on-going studies in an engaging, dynamic, and egalitarian community. The study of traditional Jewish texts is pursued in an inviting and intellectually stimulating environment, with an inclusive perspective with respect for different Jewish lifestyles and ideas. Our classes include a selection of contemporary and classical topics. Classes are ongoing so that students may join at any time.

Hartman@Home is your online destination for Hartman Torah exploring questions of Judaism and democracy, ethics, peoplehood, Jewish identity, and more. We opened our fall 2020 programming with a two-week symposium on Judaism, Citizenship & Democracy, where top Hartman scholars and special guest speakers brought reason, passion, and insight to the key civic issues facing our Jewish communities in the weeks leading up to the U.S. elections.
