Congregation Sinai is thrilled to partner with Hadar’s Project Zug to provide an opportunity to deepen Jewish learning with curated, text-based courses designed to spark rich discussion. This is a chance not only to engage in Jewish text study, but also to connect on a deeper level with fellow community members.

What is Project Zug?

Project Zug is an online learning platform that connects Jewish learners worldwide for text-based study in havruta or small groups. Project Zug courses are designed for pairs (zug means “pair” in Hebrew). Choose your own learning partner or let us match you. Prefer group learning? Gather a small group and dive into rich discussions together!

Project Zug’s diverse offerings cover a wide range of topics, from Talmud and Tanakh to Jewish ethics and spirituality, all taught by fantastic educators.

Congregation Sinai will begin a new learning cycle with the 4-session course “Jewish Moral Dilemmas” on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm, beginning on January 14, 2026. (Note: the class will not meet on Jan. 21) It will be guided by Rabbi Josh Berkenwald. Even if you cannot commit to coming in person on Tuesday evening, you can still arrange to study with your partner at a more convenient time. You are also welcome to participate in any of Project Zug’s course offerings.

This partnership is FREE for Sinai and community members. Registration is required.

 Guide to Project Zug Registration

Through Congregation Sinai’s partnership with Hadar’s Project Zug, members may register *free* for any Project Zug course using coupon code sinai5786. Just follow the instructions below!

Step 1: 🧑‍💻Head to our registration page

👉 Click this link to visit Congregation Sinai’s registration page

Step 2: 🏛️Browse Courses

Scroll down the page to view the courses we are currently featuring. To explore other Project Zug courses besides those listed on our page, click here. All courses consist of either 4 or 10 sessions.

Note: If you would like to take a course other than one of our featured courses, you must invite someone from the community to take the course with you, as we will be unable to match you with a havruta.

Step 3: 📮Select a Course & Register

Once you’ve selected a course, click “register now” on the course page. You will be guided through a series of prompts. Take special note of the following:

  • Partner Organization: You are registering as a member of Congregation Sinai. Select this from the drop-down menu of partner organizations.

  • Invite a Havruta or Be Matched: You have the option to invite a havruta (study partner) – or even more than one – to take the course with you. Add their name and email address so they will receive an invitation to register for the same course. If you do not have a havruta in mind, you may request to be matched with another learner. We will collect some information about you so we can find you a good match.

  • Payment: Courses are free of charge for Congregation Sinai members! During payment, indicate that you have a registration code and enter this code: sinai5786

Step 4: 👥Schedule With Your Havruta & Start Learning

Once we receive your registration, and your havruta's, you will be paired together in the course and sent an email explaining how to access the course content.

Each session includes a pre-recorded instructor video and study sheets. We will be gathering in person at Congregation Sinai weekly. If you are unable to come in person, feel free to schedule an hour each week on your own to meet with your havruta. You can study together over Zoom or print out the materials and meet up in person!
