Congregation Sinai Gate Access & Security Policy
At Congregation Sinai, the safety of our children is our highest priority. Our community plays a vital role in ensuring that our campus remains a safe, nurturing environment, free from preventable security risks. One of the most important aspects of our security protocol involves the proper management and secure use of gates.
To reinforce the importance of these protocols, we require all parents or guardians to carefully review, acknowledge, and sign this form, signifying their understanding of and commitment to our rules regarding gate access.
Gate Access Codes, Fobs, and Keys
Gate access codes, fobs, or keys are strictly confidential and assigned to specific, authorized individuals only.
Sharing gate access information (such as codes or keys) with unauthorized persons, including other parents, caregivers, students, or visitors, is strictly prohibited.
At every dropoff and pickup, ensure the gate is securely closed behind you before leaving the premises.
Do not allow entry to any unknown or unauthorized person, even if they claim to have legitimate reasons for entering.
Please do not hold the gate for others as we want every family to use their own access code for entry.
All visitors must use the appropriate entrance to the right of the office and follow appropriate entrance procedures.
Those who are issued gate access codes or fobs will be granted access to the Sinai facility only during certain hours when entry is required (i.e. during Nursery and/or Religious School hours). Access codes and gobs will not work at other times.
Security Guards and Volunteer Greeters
Paid security consultants may be hired for certain high-attendance events, at the discretion of congregation leadership. For those events, a guard will be stationed at the entrance to the campus from the parking lot and will keep the door open/closed at their professional discretion.
On occasion, an approved volunteer may serve as security/greeter at the entrance to the campus. The gate will remain closed, with the volunteer opening the door to allow for entry after screening. The volunteer will be issued a portable ‘panic button’ and will be trained in its use.
Other Details
The gate should not be propped open under any circumstances.
For certain low-attendance programs held at times when there are no children on the campus, the gate can be temporarily unlocked to facilitate attendees entering the facility.
Portable tablets are available that provide access to Sinai’s CCTV system, as well as the ability to respond to guests’ ‘buzzing in’ to gain entry. These are available for use by Sinai staff and approved volunteers.
Parental Responsibilities
Anyone who is issued a gate code, fob, or key is required to:
Keep assigned gate codes, fobs, or keys secure and private at all times.
Immediately notify the office if they suspect that a code, fob, or key has been compromised, lost, or stolen.
Never share gate access with others, including family members or childcare providers. Contact the office if you need to change who has access.
Remain vigilant when entering or exiting the campus, ensuring the gate is fully closed before walking away.
