This lecture will provide a background to the Religious Enlightenment before examining the specific causes, texts, and impact of the Jewish Enlightenment. The talk will also consider the long-term ramifications of the Jewish Enlightenment as well, assessing the legacies of assimilationist programs and their effects on Jewish populations.

Greg Tomlinson is a lecturer in the SJSU history department. He is a historian of modern Germany.
