Yentl (2 hr. 15 min.). This award-winning musical, set in early 20th century Poland, stars Barbra Streisand as a Talmud teacher’s daughter, who disguises herself as a young man in order to continue studying Talmud in a Yeshiva after her father dies. Based on the Yiddish short story, "Yentl, the Yeshiva Buher," by Isaac Bashevis Singer, the film takes us on a romantic journey complicated by the challenges of love and the rules and regulations of gender-defining roles in Judaism.
