Tying Workshop
On Sunday, January 9 at 10:00 am, Rabbi Berkenwald will hold a hands-on “Tying Workshop” at Sinai. First, students will have a unique opportunity to tie a Torah scroll to its wooden handles. This scroll was recently repaired by the Sofer (scribe) who helped Sinai acquire its new Torah. We will also be learning about Tallit and tying tzitzit. Parents are welcome to join as well.
Through monthly activities, students (and parents!) learn what it means to be an adult in the Jewish community through study, hands-on activities, family projects, and multi-generational interactions. Each activity focuses on a different theme, including Jewish approaches to tzedakah, homelessness, hunger, the environment, as well as ritual themes like kashrut and tefillin.
