7th Grade B'nei Mitzvah Class Project: Sunday, March 10, 8:30am-12 pm.
Sinai students and parent chaperones will be visiting LifeMoves Villa Family Shelter (184 S. 11th Street, San Jose). The 7th graders will bring and serve breakfast to all the residents, then play games, read stories, and do an arts and crafts project with the child residents (nursery - elementary school-age children). In addition, a staff member will speak to the students about homelessness and what LifeMoves does to help end this problem, and Rabbi Berkenwald will do a lesson on the Jewish view of our responsibility to take care of others.
LifeMoves helps homeless individuals and their families, providing supportive services and short-term accommodation. The nonprofit helps clients secure stable housing and ultimately achieve long-term self-sufficiency. "LifeMoves | Villa provides interim shelter and services to 15 families and 18 single women experiencing homelessness in San Jose. Villa also serves up to 5 Veteran families each night."
