Throughout its history, Congregation Sinai has been sustained by the vision, energy, and commitment of its members. They have developed a warm and close-knit community that cares deeply for one another. For years the congregation has sustained the synagogue facility through its ability to improvise and to carry on in an aging facility.
Barry Mirkin and his dedicated committee had been exploring ideas for building a new facility for many years. Finally the time came for the building of a new home as Sinai entered its second 50 years.
"I'm amazed and awed at what our founders have accomplished during the first 50 years of Congregation Sinai. I hope that those who follow us appreciate all the effort and love that Barry Mirkin and his committee have put into the design and construction of this new campus. I pray that the next 50 years continue to be as bright and fulfilling as the first 50 years" said President Phil Kipnis.
Some of the members of the Steering Committee responsible for this construction have been working on this project for years. The Steering Committee has dedicated many hours to see this vision come to life. These members include Barry Mirkin, Stan Goldstein, Past-President Phil Kipnis, Mike & Carolyn Kulakofsky, Maureen Ellenberg, Michael Fletcher and Sy Hoff.
After several attempts, the steering committee successfully closed escrow on the adjacent 2-acre Barrett property providing the necessary funds to begin construction on a new Congregation Sinai campus.
